Good books rekindle longing that I’ve been aware of since childhood, when my love of reading took root. Longing for something so much bigger and more beautiful and more mysterious than any of my days can begin to satisfy. Longing for...what exactly?
I don’t for a minute believe that there is any one guaranteed path to a great education. Great educations can happen in public schools. Great educations can happen in private schools. Great educations can happen in home schools. But I personally do believe that one common thread unites all great educations. I believe that all great educations involve passionate adults who help kindle a spark and inspire curiosity and imagination in young learners.
The life imagined is the life most likely to happen. Take time to imagine what you want to do with your life. Put it on paper so your dreams get tethered to real daily life and keep them alive. Otherwise, what’s most important to you will never ever make it onto your to do list.
